Help – AI Caddy & GPS Features

The Golf Mentor uses your iPhone's GPS to give you live distances, interactive hole maps, and an AI Caddy that advises you hole by hole — all from inside the Golf Mentor app.

Features Overview

  • AI Caddy — chat with an AI caddy on each hole. Ask questions like "What club should I use from 150 metres to an elevated green?" or "Recommend a shot shape for this dogleg left."
  • Hole Map — an interactive GPS overhead view of each hole showing carry distances, hazards, and the green.
  • Rangefinder / Distances — live GPS-based distances to the front, centre, and back of the green, plus any recorded hazards.

Opening the GPS Features (iOS App)

  1. Open the Golf Mentor app on your iPhone.
  2. From the Dashboard, tap Courses.
  3. Select your course from the list, or tap Find Nearby to locate courses near your current GPS position.
  4. Once a course is selected, you can access:
    • Hole Map — tap the map icon for the current hole.
    • AI Caddy — tap the Caddy button to start a chat.

Access via Dashboard → Courses from the top-right menu.

Using the AI Caddy

  • The Caddy knows the current hole's layout, par, and distance.
  • Type your question in the chat box at the bottom of the screen and tap Send.
  • The Caddy responds in a few seconds with tailored advice.
  • You can ask about club selection, course management, wind adjustment, and strategy.
  • Each new round starts a fresh Caddy session.

Course Availability

  • Thousands of courses are available globally via our GPS partner.
  • If your course is not yet mapped, the app will request mapping — usually completed within 24 hours.
  • Membership plans include a limited number of courses per month. See Account & Billing help for details.

Troubleshooting: Location Services Not Working

If the GPS Rangefinder is not finding your location or shows a location services error, work through these steps in order:

  1. Reload the page — tap Reload Page in the left-hand menu. This is the quickest fix and resolves most temporary GPS issues.
  2. Check you are using the Golf Mentor app — download the app from the App Store if you have not already. Location services work best in the native app.
  3. Check Location permissions — on your iPhone go to Settings → Apps → Golf Mentor → Location and make sure it is set to "While Using App".
  4. Restart the app — swipe up from the middle-left of the screen to open the app switcher, find Golf Mentor, and swipe it upward to close it. Then reopen the app.
  5. Restart your iPhone — if none of the above work, turn your phone off and on again. This clears any underlying GPS or network issues.
