Help – Rules Puzzle

The Rules Puzzle is a free, daily quiz that tests your knowledge of the official Rules of Golf. A new puzzle is published every day and past puzzles remain available for practice.

How to Play

  1. Open today's puzzle — click Puzzle in the top navigation bar (or via the menu icon on mobile). The daily puzzle is highlighted at the top.
  2. Read the scenario — each puzzle describes a real situation on the golf course.
  3. Navigate the hole — use the interactive hole diagram to place your ball and make decisions hole by hole. Tap or click areas of the green/fairway to answer.
  4. Answer the questions — multi-step puzzles walk you through a sequence of decisions (e.g. relief, stroke-and-distance, drop zone).
  5. See your result — your score (correct / penalty strokes) is shown at the end, along with the relevant rule reference so you can learn from it.

Scoring

  • Correct answer — no penalty strokes, you advance.
  • Incorrect answer — a penalty stroke is added. The correct path is shown so you can learn.
  • Your cumulative score and history are saved to your profile (sign in to track progress).
