Help – Rules Puzzle
The Rules Puzzle is a free, daily quiz that tests your knowledge of the official Rules of Golf. A new puzzle is published every day and past puzzles remain available for practice.
How to Play
- Open today's puzzle — click Puzzle in the top navigation bar (or via the menu icon on mobile). The daily puzzle is highlighted at the top.
- Read the scenario — each puzzle describes a real situation on the golf course.
- Navigate the hole — use the interactive hole diagram to place your ball and make decisions hole by hole. Tap or click areas of the green/fairway to answer.
- Answer the questions — multi-step puzzles walk you through a sequence of decisions (e.g. relief, stroke-and-distance, drop zone).
- See your result — your score (correct / penalty strokes) is shown at the end, along with the relevant rule reference so you can learn from it.
Scoring
- Correct answer — no penalty strokes, you advance.
- Incorrect answer — a penalty stroke is added. The correct path is shown so you can learn.
- Your cumulative score and history are saved to your profile (sign in to track progress).
Puzzle History
Past puzzles are listed at Puzzles → History. You can replay any puzzle as many times as you like — great for study and revision.
Tips
- If you find a puzzle difficult, look at the rule reference shown after finishing — it links directly to the relevant section of the Rules of Golf.
- Puzzles are based on real situations faced by amateur and professional golfers.
- Playing the daily puzzle every day is a proven way to build a thorough knowledge of the rules.
