Help – Club Distances

The Golf Mentor stores your carry distance for each club in your bag. These distances power the AI Caddy, which uses them to recommend the right club for each shot based on the distance to the green or hazard.

Why Club Distances Matter

  • The AI Caddy compares the GPS distance to the green against your club distances to suggest the most appropriate club.
  • Accurate distances lead to better caddy recommendations — the more realistic your distances, the more useful the advice.
  • Your distances are personal and saved to your account so you do not need to re-enter them each round.

Setting Up Your Club Distances

  1. During setup, you enter your 5-iron carry distance. Golf Mentor uses this as a baseline to estimate distances for all your other clubs.
  2. After setup, go to Distance Calculator (from the Dashboard or MyHome left menu) to view and customise each club individually.
  3. Click Edit next to any club to update its carry distance.
  4. Repeat for any clubs that differ significantly from the estimated values.

Carry Distance vs. Total Distance

Enter your carry distance — how far the ball travels through the air before it lands — not the total distance including roll. Carry distance is what the AI Caddy needs to match against GPS distances to the pin.

Tips

  • Use your average carry distance for each club, not your best-ever hit.
  • Update your distances as your game improves — accurate data means better recommendations.
  • If you are unsure of a distance, use a launch monitor or measure distances on the range.
  • The Reset button regenerates all distances from your 5-iron baseline if you want to start fresh.

Distance Units

Distances are shown in the units you selected in your profile (metres or yards). You can change your preferred units in Profile & Settings.
